Formed in March 2003, the
Wireless Broadband Alliance was created to drive the adoption
of wireless broadband technologies and services around the world
by developing a common commercial, technical and marketing framework
for seamless wireless network interoperability. The Wireless
Broadband Alliance is formed by pioneers in the wireless broadband
field including China Netcom (China), KT (Korea), Maxis (Malaysia),
StarHub (Singapore), Telstra (Australia) and T-Mobile (US).
The
Brief:
We were contracted by
representatives of Telstra on behalf of the WBA to create
a website accessible by delegates to the conference to provide
them with information about Sydney and the conference they
were to attend. The site was to be password protected, live
in the framework of Telstra's own corporate identity, be compact,
fast loading and up within a fortnight!
The Solution:
Our first challenge was
to create the look of the WBA Conference website using a Telstra
motif. Working within their guidelines and utilizing their
colour palette and font specifications we were able to design
a site that looked like Telstra but was still different enough
to represent the Wireless Broadband Alliance.
To create the website
we used a combination of ASP to provide the password protected
access, iFrames to keep the site in a single screen and minimize
load times, java menus to house the large amounts of information,
Flash to create a dynamic looking site and of course a healthy
dose of our technical know-how!
The End Result:
The WBA Conference July
2003 went off without a hitch, the site was up and enabled
ahead of time despite our tight schedule and we received a
healthy dose of positive feedback from the client.
