How do you get people to read what you want to say?  What can we say right now to make you keep reading this page?  How about some free steak knives?

Copy writing is one of the most challenging aspects to communication.  Nobody has time to read these days, so now, more than ever, every word counts.

This doesn’t mean that the entire English language has been reduced to headlines and bullet points!  It just means that we have to offer clarity, elegance and value with our choice of words, to draw the reader in and convince them it will be worth taking that extra time to read what we have to say.

Good copy writing will lead people to spend more time on your Website as they get to know you better.  You will get more opportunity to explain yourself in detail.  Well-written text projects an image of professionalism, consideration and care.

It’s time to throw in some bullet points:

• Am I being honest to the reader?
• Am I making my point clearly and succinctly?
• Do my readers ‘get’ it?
• Is spelling and grammar important any more?
• Can I inspire my readers to take action?

Words are subjective.  They affect people differently.  The role of the copy writer is to fine-tune the words as best they can to optimise that effect.  It is not an exact science, but it is a skill worth employing.  That’s why so many companies hire copy writers like us.
